ParticipantOne of the processes that can certainly be optimized at my organization is the Performance Management/Appraisal process. Although the process is already digital, HR administrators can continue to optimize this process by reviewing and refining existing competencies and SOPs that team members are currently being measured against. By auditing our existing core competencies and conducting research in the marketplace and across the wider industry, we can ensure that we are measuring for essential competencies that help team members think strategically and develop that business acumen that will aid in their professional development down the road.

ParticipantOne recommendation that I would present to my organization’s learning & development team would be to shift the department’s focus to instructional design and training facilitation a bit more. As discussed in this module, research suggests that the concept of “learning styles” may not be as important or accurate as we initially believed; whereas individuals’ preference to receive information may vary, the instructional design and method of delivery seems to have a greater impact on how information is retained.
A second recommendation that I would bring forward to the L&D team would be around the spacing (and timing) of delivery with trainings (according to the A.G.E.S. model). We would have learned that ~75% of what a person is taught can be lost within a week without proper reinforcement – and this also depends heavily on varying attention spans and training facilitation/engagement methods during instruction.

ParticipantAfter completing module one, the strategy that I will challenge myself to implement immediately is to continue being curious. Asking questions will not only help validate my understanding of Human Resources practices and strategies, but it can open doors to innovation that may inspire the birth of new ideas that can transform existing processes. I think it’s essential for all Human Resources professionals to remain curious as processes continue to evolve daily, and we can always sharpen our minds with new perspectives and understandings gained through asking questions.
